Connecting charging, energy, and digital solutions: Etrel joins E8

Etrel has joined the E8 Memorandum of Cooperation, a collaborative initiative developed by ELES, Slovenia’s transmission system operator, and further advanced within the CER Partnership (Sustainable Business Network).

E8 brings together companies and organisations from energy, mobility, technology, and business with a shared goal: to support the development of a smarter, more connected ecosystem for mass EV charging in Slovenia.

In the focus of the initiative is a simple but important idea: electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and parking areas are becoming more than mobility infrastructure. They can become active, integrated parts of the energy system.

Why does this matter?

Because the next phase of e-mobility will not be shaped by charging stations alone.

It will depend on how charging effectively connects with energy systems, digital platforms, users, and businesses. Smart charging is becoming part of a wider ecosystem, where flexibility, interoperability, and cooperation between different sectors are just as important as the hardware itself.

Through E8, partners will work on key areas such as:

  • smart charging and energy management
  • integration of electric vehicles into the power system
  • vehicle-to-grid concepts
  • digital solutions and data-driven services
  • flexibility services and new business models
  • pilot projects in real environments
  • regulatory alignment and market development
  • preparation of projects for national and European funding calls

For Etrel, joining E8 is a natural step. As a provider of smart EV charging solutions, we bring practical experience from product development, partner integrations, and real charging projects on the field.

Our role is to contribute knowledge from the charging side of the ecosystem: how infrastructure is deployed, how it connects with users and systems, and how smart charging can become easier to scale, manage, use, and interact with energy systems.

Mass EV charging will only work if the ecosystem works.

That means reliable technology, connected systems, shared knowledge, and strong partnerships. E8 creates a space where different players can work together on practical solutions, from ideas, and pilots to future-ready interoperable infrastructure.
