Why mobile charging matters 

EV charging is often treated as permanent infrastructure. A charger is installed, connected, configured, and expected to stay in place for years. That model is essential, but it does not cover every real-world situation. 

Some projects need charging before the final infrastructure is ready. Others need to understand actual demand before investing in a fixed setup. In some cases, the site itself may change, move, or come with technical constraints that make a standard installation less practical.

The challenge

SWIO developed SOMMY LITE as a mobile charging solution for sites where flexibility is essential. The solution is designed for easy on-site transport, with integrated sleeves or hooks that allow it to be moved using standard handling equipment. 

At the heart of the system is INCH Duo, a dual-socket AC charging station designed for public and semi-public environments. In the SOMMY LITE setup, INCH Duo provides the charging hardware for up to four 22 kW AC charging points (when two INCH Duo’s used), depending on the configuration. 

This gives the mobile solution a strong AC charging foundation: a familiar user experience, smart charging capabilities, and practical operation in one compact setup. While SWIO’s backend manages charging access and pricing, INCH Duo provides the user-facing charging interface and the smart charging functionality on site.
